We had hundreds of entries for the David Farland Writing and Art Contest this year. Most of our entrants came from Utah, but I also recall seeing entries from Florida, Texas, Arizona, California, Washington, Idaho and elsewhere.
The competition was fierce, and I was very pleased at how hard many of the entrants worked at this. For example, our Grand Prize Winner, Morgan Barron, from Riverton, Utah, rewrote her story over thirty times, and I know that many of our artists also spent days on their drawings.
My goal here is to help inspire young writers and artists, and I think that I accomplished that. I’d like to thank Covenant Communications for their help in administering and publishing the contest.
For the contest, the grand prize was $500. Additionally, there were four first-place prizes of $100 each. These winners also got a trophy, along with autographed copies of their books.
In addition, the Grand Prize was awarded on television, on KSL, and Morgan got to have her picture taken with David Farland and Utah’s First Lady, Mary Kaye Huntsman. We will be contacting local newspapers for each winner with press releases, so we hope to give the winners some well-deserved attention.
For those who were finalists, there will also be a $20 award.
So here are our winners:
